The Sakura for Future Generations Selection Committee

The Selection Committee is made up of the Management Committee of the Sakura Fund for Future Generations and several experts in gender equality in scientific and academic careers.

In 2025, it selected the first winning projects of the Sakura for Future Generations call for projects, which will receive funding for a period of three years.

The 2025 Selection Committee is composed of the following members:

  • Véronique De Herde, Postdoctoral Researcher
  • Suzana Koelet, Science Promotion Advisor - Innoviris
  • Marijke Lein, Freelance Consultant and former HR Director - VIB, and member of the LIBRA project
  • Baptiste Dethier, Scientific Advisor - Observatory of Research and Scientific Careers - F.R.S.-FNRS
  • Monique Coppieters, Founder of the Sakura Fund for Future Generations and member of the Fund’s Management Committee
  • Benoît Derenne, Managing Director of the Foundation for Future Generations and member of the Fund’s Management Committee

Last intervision

The second Sakura intervision session, held on 21 April 2026 at UNamur, brought together teams from UMONS-UNamur, UHasselt and ULB to discuss their projects promoting gender equality in academia.

The meeting provided an opportunity to share initial results, identify common challenges and strengthen synergies between the Sakura initiatives.
