The Foundation for Future Generations supports and funds research, prototypes and start-ups with a positive impact. It empowers young people to take action by supporting their solutions for a fairer, more vibrant and more sustainable world.

Notre Mission

Founded in 1998, the Foundation for Future Generations supports and funds students, young researchers and project leaders, helping them turn their research, prototypes and start-ups into drivers of positive change for society.

Rather than giving in to prevailing pessimism, the Foundation chooses to invest in their creativity and their ability to shape a better future.

Its mission is built around a systemic, 360° approach that seeks to address major environmental, social, economic and democratic challenges simultaneously. This approach to sustainable development brings together four inseparable dimensions - the 4Ps: People (social), Planet (environmental), Prosperity (economic) and Participation (participatory governance). This framework guides all of the Foundation’s activities.

The Foundation for Future Generations carries out its mission thanks to the support of its philanthropists, donors and partners, whose commitment makes all of its activities possible.

Recognised as a public-benefit foundation, the Foundation is pluralistic, independent and active throughout Belgium and internationally.

Our Vision

The Foundation for Future Generations aspires to a shared future where generations work together to imagine, create and pass on a liveable world.

A liveable world is...
...a society that endures and thrives, offering a high quality of life for all, in a fair and equitable way. A society that meets present and future needs while respecting the limits of ecosystems and natural resources, and ensures that everyone retains democratic control over development choices.

Our Values

The Foundation’s thinking and actions are guided by four core values that drive the transformation towards a more sustainable world.

valeurs-fondation-anglais.png
  • Openness & Trust: the future is something we build together. There is not just one, but many paths towards sustainable development. This is why the Foundation seeks to provide a framework that enables initiative leaders to shape their approach with confidence.

  • Empowerment: through its actions, the Foundation seeks to encourage initiative and empower those who take action.

  • Positivity: the Foundation highlights positive and inspiring initiatives that contribute to a better world. It seeks to build on society’s strengths rather than its weaknesses.

  • Autonomy: the Foundation seeks to strengthen people’s autonomy and their capacity to take action where they are.
